Responsible technology development: Technology companies have some unique social considerations to contend with that are often not yet a part of standards or frameworks, because standards development and regulations often lag behind the rapid pace of innovation. Since the social dimension focuses on how the company impacts stakeholders, and by their nature technology companies have the capacity to impact huge numbers of people in a variety of nuanced ways, there are some social focus areas that will be unique for high tech startups. For example, AI ethics is increasingly a focus as clear risks are demonstrated across the industry, from encoding biases to intellectual property protection.
