Where Technology meets People and Planet
At Pitango, we believe the best entrepreneurs who build the most successful and profitable companies are the ones considering their relationship to society and our planet. We connect driving exceptional returns with adopting ESG standards and acting for People & Planet. Technology has the potential to scale solutions for some of society’s biggest challenges in an exponential way. Utilizing technology to scale solutions is particularly important for a world facing climate change and vast social inequalities. As a leading venture fund, we aim to initiate, support and contribute to creating a world we all want to live in, while keeping our focus on investing in the best and most profitable companies.
Our deepest appreciation goes to our friends and colleagues at VentureESG, Antler Capital, Northzone, Tandem Impact and others who have worked on creating some of the content presented here.
Presenting ESG and Impact guidelines to the high-tech ecosystem is a collaborative effort aimed at guiding our industry in a positive direction and helping create better outcomes for us all.
We believe that ESG, impact and sustainability is a mindset that needs to be integrated into all our business decisions and operations. Our strategy is designed to address all considerations around impact & sustainability, in a way that can be easily implemented in companies in different domains and all stages. The flexibility of our methodology allows us to integrate ESG into our investment considerations alongside working closely with our existing portfolio companies and helping them integrate impact into their core business. ESG is a framework that helps us design processes that will help comply with globally acceptable standards. Impact is the outcome-based view of products and business models employed by the companies.
Our approach: The ESG-SDG Continuum
Every company we invest in we classify based on our ESG-SDG Continuum. We review responses to our due diligence questions and aim to identify ESG-related gaps as well as impact opportunities. This process helps us identify the appropriate sustainability-related risks and opportunities to measure and manage for each company.
We believe all companies should integrate ESG performance management. We help our portfolio companies set clear targets and improve their performance over time.
Most companies also have a potential external impact related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) created by their products and business model. We work with our companies to identify relevant SDGs, set targets, and track progress.
